I AM HAPPY TODAY...
Do you see this silly wonderful man?
This is my husband. We have been together for over 17 years and married for 16 of those. He is my everything. He had his 40th birthday a couple of weeks ago (hence the "Old Fart" hat).
When he was about 6 months old his father died of colon cancer. It was a swift and painful death that left my husband and his sister without their father. My mother in law did an awesome job raising them. It would have been beyond wonderful had he been there to help.
My husband went to the doctor today to make sure he didn't have any signs of cancer and the oncologist gave him great news and he doesn't have to go back for another five years!
Can I tell you how much better I am breathing tonight?
I love you Sweet, you really are my everything!
Please do yourself a favor and get your checkups, someone out there loves you dearly and needs you here and to be well.

**GAH!!!**

It's the end of the month.
I work for a real estate attorney.
People are still buying and selling houses.
I am busier than a one-armed paper hanger.
Whoever said the housing market is in the biggest slump ever forgot to tell these people!
Hope you all are having a super fantastic Monday.

I'll see you again when I come up for air!

THIS IS A PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT....

Please pass this on to all your children young and old. Make your friends read this. My father sent this to me and I felt compelled to share...
The Rules of Life
1. Life is not fair-get used to it!
2. The world won't care about your self esteem. The world will expect you to accomplish something BEFORE you feel good about yourself.
3. You will NOT make $60,000.00 a year right out of high school. You WON'T be a vice-president with a cell phone until you earn it.
4. If you think your teacher is tough, wait till you get a boss.
5. Flipping burgers is NOT beneath your dignity. Your grandparents had a different word for burger flipping, they called it opportunity.
6. If you mess up, it's not your parents' fault, so don't whine about your mistakes, learn from them.
7. Before you were born your parents weren't as boring as they are now. They got that way from paying your bills, cleaning your clothes and listening to you talk about how cool you thought you were. So before you save the rain forest from the parasites of your parent's generation, try delousing the closet in your own room.
8. Your school may have done away with winners and losers but life has NOT. In some schools, the have abolished failing grades and they'll give you as many times as you want to get the right answer. This doesn't bear the slightest resemblance to ANYTHING in real life.
9. Life is not divided in to semesters. You don't get the summers off and very few employers are interested in helping you FIND YOURSELF. Do that on your own time.
10. Television is NOT real life. In real life people actually have to leave the coffee shops and go to real jobs.
11. Be nice to nerds. Chances are you will end up working for one.
*Bill Gates*
Bill Gates listed these in a speech. It goes on to talk about how feel-good politically correct teachings created a generation of kids with no concept of reality and how this concept set them up for failure in the real world. Was he spot on? I tend to think so.
*~PSA over, you may go about your daily lives now~*

IT WAS A LONG AND EVENTFUL WEEKEND....

We went down to Jacksonville, Florida this weekend to celebrate my mother's 70th birthday. Yeah, I'll shout her age LOUD! I'm a brat like that. We also celebrated my hubby's 40th. It was fun and I love to see my brothers. We had to sleep in their living room, by sleep I mean toss and turn and pretend to rest.... The weather couldn't be better if it tried. I'll serve up some pics as soon as they forward them to me. No, I didn't bring my camera.
My sister in law's birthday is today... On the way home we stopped to see some other friends because he is turning 40 tomorrow and we really couldn't leave with out teasing him *heehee* Yeah there were a lot of people making babies on New Years Eve, huh?
Nothing spectacular happened while we were there. I hate riding/driving long distance so just the thought of going there makes me want to just curl up in bed and forgo the trip... But it was nice seeing everyone.
I still have a long trip to make when we can find some free time. Tysgirl I am talking about you again... Some one of these days we are coming over your way, I promise (just like I have promised for the last how many months?)
Hope everyone's Mondays are going better than ever!!!

I KNOW A GIRL....

Or should I say a woman... This woman is one of the sweetest people on the face of this earth. I just found out last night that she is going to have a baby girl. I am so very excited!!! My Babygirl is my most favorite person on the earth. She has me wrapped VERY tightly around her little finger. Her skin is the softest I have ever felt, she's beautiful & she has always had little dimples on her knuckles (even at her thinnest weight). I just love her hands. She has been a constant source of enjoyment and enlightenment. She is not afraid to be herself, she is reserved and funny. She has lots of friends but has no problem putting them in their place when they are not acting right. I swear she has been on this earth before, she is such an old soul. She understands a lot more than she is told and is attracted to people not by how they look, but how their heart looks. That speaks volumes when you are talking about a 12 year old. I can't say enough good things about her, she's awesome.
So I guess what I'm rambling on about is..... I am psyched that she is having a baby girl, they are one of a kind and she deserves a wonderful little person.
She is going to be a great mother, I just know it!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!!!

She is the original redheaded gangsta!

Let me tell you something about my mom. She is 5'0", red hair and freckles. She is the toughest & strongest mother on earth. She has a green thumb and can reel off any names of any plants anywhere at any time. I am not talking their common names either. She had aspirations to be a dressmaker when she was a young girl but changed her mind and decided to do hair for a living. She is still doing hair and has been retired for about 4 years. My parents have been married for 47 years (to each other). She is feisty and funny but still extremely sensitive. She believes all kids deserve to be loved unconditionally no matter what. I admire her for that. She has always been very good to my brothers, myself and our families. She has never raised a hand to me in anger.
I only wish I could be more like her.

Happy Birthday Mom-ster! You ROCK!!!

HAPPY FRIDAY!

I took yesterday off just because.
Now I am here with very little work to do so I decided that blogging was far more important than these deeds that need to get to the courthouse... Yes, I am being bad, but it's A.O.K. The Hubby's birthday was very uneventful, well, that's what he gets for not making a big deal of mine last year. He went to the Dr. and has a hernia between his breast bone and his tummy button. Yes, the full length of his stomach. So he has an appointment on Monday. Wish him luck. Now let me tell ya, my hubby has the best looking abs in the world. I love it! I hope they don't scar it, it is such perfection (minus the hernia of course). He works out 6 days a week, it was bound to happen.
Anyway on a different note... My dumb dog ran away last Friday and we just got her back Wednesday. I didn't want to say anything until now because I just wanted her to be home and safe before I say anything. She is such a dork! Hopefully one day she'll figure out that being the happy wanderer is not all it's cracked up to be.
We went to the kid's parent/teacher conferences yesterday.....
We met with Babygirl's teachers first and they gave rave reviews!!! They all said they would love to have her laugh and cut up a little more. They all said she is way too serious, LOL!!! Then it was the time I dread.....every......year..... We went to meet with Littleman's teachers. The first teacher we talked to happens to be his history teacher AND his football coach. He is getting a B+ in that class. WOW! This is great. Then we talked to his math teacher who happens to be in LOVE with him and was singing his praises. I mean she was gushing about how much fun he is to have in class and how he always has his homework done....blah, blah, blah... WOW that's a switch! Then his English teacher came in, more of the same happy goodness, followed by his science teacher with more of the same!!!
OMG! Have aliens invaded my home and what have they done with my kids!???
I am so very proud of both of them, they are working really hard this year.
Oh and a side note, Littlman's team won on Wednesday 44-36 in double overtime! YAY!!!

Turning 40 is not so bad, just wait till we are turning 90!

Sunday Sunday....
So, not only did we survive the storm, we didn't even lose power, Woohoo! The storm left us with very little rain and a bit of wind. By Saturday it was beautiful outside. We have had a fantastic weekend weather wise. We had friends come up from Florida this weekend and it was really nice seeing them. I played bunco today and I didn't win anything. That's quite alright because I really like the game and hanging with the other women. I am planning on going to bed early tonight as I have a heckofa day scheduled tomorrow.
My hubby turns 40 on the 10th so I have to think of something awesome for him. He is such a good guy and deserves to be spoiled. If any of you have any good suggestions, clue me in, I am at a loss here! Hope you all had a good weekend too...

Waiting & Watching...

As most of you know, I am in Savannah, Georgia. Tropical storm Hanna is heading for S.C. & N.C. but I'll tell you that there are so many people here that think it's heading straight for us. Seriously they are out shopping like there is no tomorrow and acting like it's the end of the world. Guess what, it's a storm. Yes they suck and power will probably be out for a little while (only because Georgia Power hasn't figured out how to keep the power lines up and running even in the slightest wind). I'm not worried about it, I haven't even given it much thought actually.
We actually have guests coming up from Florida this weekend. They will be here tomorrow morning. I was hoping for a peaceful non-eventful weekend but alas it is not to be. I am actually booked for the rest of the weekends in September.
Hope you all have a great wonderful awesome uneventful weekend!

HAPPY HUMPDAY!!!
*UPDATE*
They lost by a very small margin and Littleman didn't even get to play!
See, they should have let him play after all!!!

I am at work with very little time to blog, ugh! What is wrong with employers, blogging should be mandatory! My Bro2 and SIL2 came up with their spawn this weekend. It was nice seeing them, I haven't seen them in a very long time. I am so worried about my Bro2 though, he is very heavy right now and looks really unwell. I wish he would take care of himself. I will post some pictures when I get time. I don't have a lot of time lately...
Littleman has a game this afternoon. Good luck to him. JV had a game yesterday and creamed the other team, YAY!
Hope you all get your hump on and have a fabulous Wednesday!
