just the most beautiful pic you have seen all day???
This totally beats reading stories about poor sweet Anna Nicole Smith or sad little Brittany Spears?!?! I am so lucky to have such a great crew surrounding me. BG and I have talked a lot about the "downfall and/or death" of celebrities. I asked my sweet little Babygirl why does that have to happen to these people? In her sweet 11 year old wisdom came the simple answer,"Their mommies didn't love them enough..." You now, the more I think about those two girls and their issues, I the more I believe that she is right. Had Anna's mom loved her and guided her just a little bit more instead of giving up on her, she could very well been here today. If Brittany's mom loved her just a little bit more, she would have had a childhood and not had to rebel. I feel sorry for her. I know the majority of people think WTF! she has tons of money and can do what ever she pleases. Which is true, but you can never give her back her childhood or turn back the hands of time. I think everyone should just leave her alone and let her get through this time of pain.
*stepping off soapbox now*
To all you parents out there, for the two (of many) girls who could have really been somebody, please take a minute to remember why you had your children. Love them just a little bit more and know that you brought them here to be with you for a reason.
My son asked me last night as he was getting ready for bed if I thought that he would be a good husband someday. Of course my instant answer was yes. Then I backed up, thought for a minute and said that since he treats me with love and respect he will most certainly treat his wife the very same way. He sees my hubby taking great care of me and treating me like a queen. I think that in and of itself makes my son a better man.
*damn that soapbox*
My son is in the 6th grade and had something surreal happen to him today and he handled it with the grace that I knew he had in him already. I am so proud of him. Another student in his band class came up to him and told him how much they admired him. This band mate also told him that they thought he was cute. At first my son was totally oblivious as to the fact this person was "hitting" on him. When it dawned on him (yeah the light bulb did finally go off)...
he looked at this other little boy and told him thank you.

Kudos to you for being such a great mum and being so open with your son so that in this event, he could handle himself with dignity, and also treat his friend with mutual respect and dignity also :)
Love that pic :)
Thanks Cazzie!!! (I like your new pic...) I can't tell you how proud he makes me.
First of all, what a gorgeous young lady you have there!!
And second, how fantastic that you're raising your both your kids to be understanding, kind and respectful.
GOOD JOB BIG MAMA!
p.s. What a gorgeous cat as well ;-)
I like what you said about Mother's simply loving some more...But I also think most of us are flawed... some just let their flaws show through better? My own Mama was ... less than perfect. She chose her husband over me, and chose to not speak to me for years on end any time I continued to annoy her over the years. I maintain a relationship with her - that is no longer so hard - because I can understand that she made mistakes. With my girls (and son) I just confess my mistakes more freely. And I think that works too - the girls are quick to forgive me? My girls dont have to be scared I will "pull" my love away from them.
I love your sons grace at handling the compliments. I thought he was pretty cool ages ago too. (But I was not "hitting" on him!)
We SO need a cat. What a beautiful picture.
What great kids...
On the other hand, I think some people are just bad apples in spite of everyone's best efforts...I think in the end, Anna killed Anna. If someone is hell-bent on doing something, there is sometimes no stopping them...methinks the lady idol-worshipped Marilyn a bit too much. We knew this would not end well.
Nobody looks better on a soap box than you! If more people raised their children to be accepting of others the world would be much nicer place and people would be more willing to help the lost souls like Anna and Brittney!
