First I want to begin this post with a GREAT BIG Happy Birthday Nick!!! Nick is the son of a dear friend of mine and he was born today 11 years ago. Hope it's a great one big guy!
Kind of hard to follow that up with just lame junk... but I will anyway. well, I told you that GF and I spent Friday night going to her company Halloween party. Hey, free drinks and funny people. Works for me. Lucky for me she snapped a few pics so I could share them with you all. Here are a few (very few...in fact the only ones of me);
Has anyone seen my lost puppy???
Here is a picture of him...oh dear, he's lost.

I have got to have the seats on the couch taken care of, it sure is lumpy...

Just another Tacky Tourist in downtown Savannah.... (this BTW is my best GF)...

These are all the pics I have. Hope it wasn't a letdown LB, I did my best. Of course next year LBSeahag is going to dress me up. Although I have been told that you can dress me up but you can't take me anywhere.

Before the party we went to Tapas in City Market, AWESOME food but the service SUCKED! Have to admit I have been there many many times and this was the first time the service really blew so of course I am writing it off as a once in a lifetime thing (I hope) .After the party in the Lincoln Street Parking Garage (2nd floor) in the pouring rain... We went back to her place only to find that the power was out and would continue to be out until approx 4:00am. That was fine, we acted like we were at her dad's cabin in the woods. When we were kids I loved going to that cabin. Her dad is now in his 70s and still hikes in to enjoy the solitude. Or as I like to call, getting away from the nagging ball and chain of a wife. Don't get me wrong, she is so sweet, but very negative to those closest to her. She is old and cranky!

Hope everyone enjoys Halloween and eats way too much candy. Please keep those kids of yours safe, they are irreplaceable.

Oh and thanks to The Great Purpletwinkie, I have just learned that great minds really DO think alike...

THIS PISSES ME OFF!
Is gay marriage legal or isn't it??? The hypocrites in Massachusetts are trying to withhold benefits for the spouse of a prominent gay congressman. The marriage is legal, the government there said so. So WHAT is the problem???
Either it IS legal or it ISN'T. Make up our minds! I am a firm believer that you do what you say you are going to do and back up your words with actions. Well, the government in Massachusetts is failing it's people thus far. I am waiting to see what's next. I can only hope they do the right thing.
NOW WHAT DID I SAY?!?!?!
Yep, that's right, I said I was going to post more pics tomorrow... ooops! LOL!!! Well, I'm here now so...
When we were in Charleston, S.C. we went to this little retro 2nd hand store. In fact we go there every time we go up to Charleston. The following pics were taken inside this funky little store.
Can't have retro without the obligatory Elvis...
Does anyone else remember 8 Track Tapes???

Martin Luther King, Jr. and his wife & John F. Kennedy and his brother...

A LIFE SIZE poster of Farrah Fawcett!!!

No REALLY!!! It really WAS life sized!!!

A really funky lamp that I just LOVED!

Barbie and Pluto all in the same picture...

Fun furniture...

This picture is so wrong! on so many different levels I just have to post it and let you all see for yourselves...

There was also an incident that made me feel older than I really am!!!! GF and I were walking through the store and two girls (from here forward known as "young whippersnappers") picked up an odd looking object with tubes, chords and a bag all contained in a box with a zipper on it. They were trying to guess what it was to no avail. So the young whippersnappers asked US! if we knew what it was.....*sigh* sadly we did. "That is a portable hairdryer that women used to use 'back in the day' so their hair would dry faster on rollers..." I remember my mom used one of those and GF remembered her mom using one of those. I guess MY generation is a little older than the young whippersnappers!!! Then after that little incident we looked around and were acutely aware of the fact that everything in that store was a part (somewhere/somehow) of our childhood...

THE NEXT DAY....
So as Charleston was still rockin... we decided to shop a little at the Tanger Outlets. Which BTW were right next to the hotel which were right next to the place where the great George Carlin had played the night before...
Wake up sleepy head....
Rise and shine! It's 9:25am...

This is what our hotel looked like the next day (It didn't look like the Tower of Terror any more)...

Ahhh... the slow pace is so refreshing (unless of course if you are behind them)...

Seems like everything is worth looking at...

I love these old buildings...

This barber shop looked like it came off an old movie set...

The old and the new look great right next to each other...

AND WE GOT TO GO OVER A DRAWBRIDGE!!!

Which I was trying to upload here but to no avail... So I shortcutted you to someone else's pic instead....

More pics tomorrow!!!

NORTH CHARLESTON ROCKS!!!!!
So did my weekend...
We went here first;

Then we went here to see George Carlin!

We then went to our hotel...

We rode the elevator to the 2nd floor...

We walked down the L-O-N-G-E-S-T hallway on earth....

Unlocked the door....

To our delight and amazement our room was AWESOME!

Two big honkin beds with 4 king-sized pillows each. Everything was brand new and clean...

As you can see I decided that going to bed was definitely next on my short list of things to do...

Good night all....

Will post more scenic stuff tomorrow...

....ALMOST ON VACATION....
I was not planning on posting but this is an emergency post. What is an emergency post you may ask? Well, I have an incredibly wonderful friend The Certifiable Princess (which she REALLY is) and she posted this today. CP has one of the biggest hearts of any human I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. When she goes through the trials of life she always seems to come out smelling like roses, wearing Prada and obviously landing on her feet. Not to mention she always manages to keep her sense of humor. She is wise beyond her years but is very humble and down to earth. I really look up to her and would do anything for her. Her little boy is going through a scarey/hard time. Right now I am going to ask all of you and even if you just happened here by accident, please stop by her place, give her a big hug, send her some love. If you pray, please send her some prayers and if you don't could you send her some good karma and well wishes, please?

I am finally taking a few days off...in a row! My best GF and I are taking a trip up to Charleston, S.C. to go see George Carlin in concert!!!! I am stoked! I saw him way back in 85 or 86. He is brilliant and I am happy to finally get a break from work. Sounds like a package deal to me.
Hope all is well with everyone as I won't be around here for a few days. Go see CP and read her wonderful writing style while I'm gone. She totally makes me smile.
BUT I promise I will post pics of beautiful Charleston for y'all.

ME...A LAME ASS BLOGGER!....Yeah...I guess so....
O.K. so I haven't really taken the time to sit, ponder and write. I post sillies or pics or both... Just remember that there really is an intelligent person in here just dying to get out. No, really! LOL!
Oh! Hey! I just bought Anne Leibovitz brand new awesome book A Photographer's Life. It is SO TOTALLY AWESOME! My daughter told me it is inappropriate for her little eyes. WHAT?!?! She then informed me that it has boobies and willys and it's just plain gross. LOL!!! Good girl, you're right, don't look at them. It really is a great book. There are a few pages to read in the front and the rest are her photographs. Just wonderful. I want to be her when I grow up. I mean, how totally awesome would that be for famous/rich people to seek you out for your expert talent? Wouldn't that just ROCK!?
On another note we painted and decorated Babygirl's room this weekend and the curtains (same packing, same color, same company) are two different lengths. *sigh* I'll take pics, it's worth a good laugh. She is happy that it looks like a girl room finally. Although last night was her first night sleeping there and she ended up sleeping with us because of a dreaded nightmare. She said that two men broke in, one killed Papa and the other one raped her brother. "But they left us alone". How awful is that!?!?!! I blame tv and the media. Poor little kids are exposed to WAY too much violence. I remember when I was a kid there was too much sex and too much violence. Well, there is no such thing as too much sex.....(make love not war) I would rather the kids see people making out and pawing all over each other than blood spattering and people screaming and running in fear. Kinda screwed up if you had to pick the lesser of the two evils... Anyway... She is tucked in and hopefully having sweet little girl dreams tonight.
Speaking of sleep, I am going to go to bed, I'm too pooped to party...

KNOCK KNOCK...ANYONE HERE??? HEY, WHERE IS EVERYONE?!?!
Oh my Lord it has been so long, I don't know where to begin. Umm.. we still have the goofball Dumbshit dog. She is sweet (as far as dogs go) but LOVES to chew on anything that isn't nailed down... Hubby, kids and cats are as awesome as ever. I am so proud of my son, we ran out of his ADHD meds for two whole days and I didn't get even one phone call from the school, It was a miracle! He is on minimal support and on a very low dose. He just has a hard time staying focused. Yeah, I can hear all you naysayers out there. Say what you will. I have always had a hard time with it, as does my mother and one of my brothers. It is a chemical thing and it can't be helped. Anyway that is a very good thing...I mean the school not calling.
I think Babygirl has a crush. Will keep you posted on that as news comes rolling in.
Went to the sister in law's 40th birthday party. It was good to see them, I really do love them. I just dread the whole obligatory getting the family together stuff. I am the youngest kid in my family and I (even at 39 years old) have never been taken seriously. I was the first to seek further education. I was the first to buy a house. I was the responsible one. I always have been. My brother who is the middle kid has pretty well held it all together and comes in a close second for taking charge and being responsible. I love them with all my heart but to this day they always take what I have to say with a "grain of salt". Dad, not so much any more, I think I have proved myself to him. But the rest of them.... let's just say they have a LOT to learn.
I have worked so much the past couple of weeks that it forced me to neglect my blog and my writing and I HATE that!!! This is one of my only outlets and I love coming here.
I feel that the friends that I have made and are making here are as real and true as my friends that I can hang out with physically on a regular basis. I just wish I could get us all together and have a big huge blog-union. Kinda like a family reunion except without the creepy uncle that no one will go near for fear of being felt up. I do live in one of the most beautiful places on earth so if you my blogbuds are ever in my neck-o-the woods. Let's get together and hang. You all know who you are, yes, I'm talking to you!!!
I was going to post some pics, but blogger is just not in that kind of mood.
I promise I will post the always entertaining fam pics as soon as blogger lets me. Oh and ~deb, I would have called but you forgot to leave your number at the sound of the beep.... I promise next time I am in NYC you and Mad will be the first people I'll to contact.
Peace everyone, Big Mama is off to bed!
