SCHOOL STARTS TOMORROW......
*heavy sigh*
I'M NOT READY!!!!
I am not ready for my little tiny Babygirl to be in middle school! I am not ready to have my son's teachers gang up on me and tell me that he has a hard time paying attention, that he daydreams and doesn't turn in his work. They always try to gloss it over with the ever present,"Oh but he is such a sweet boy and never a behavior issue..." Blah blah freakin blah... Like I haven't heard it all before. I just want him to want his grades as bad as I want them FOR him. Babygirl is excited and nervous about this new chapter in her life. She's bummed that her best bud won't be sharing any of her classes. It's O.K. she is the type of kid to make lots of friends very easily. I don't worry so much for her, she seems to float through life without ever hitting a snag. He on the other hand ALWAYS hits the snags and/or bumps in the road. He is sweet and charming but lacks the finesse that he needs to float...
Say a little prayer or send some major Karma this way so we can have a pain free first day of middle school.
BTW this will be the first time they have ever gone to the same school, fun!

I can't wait to hear all about how it went! Good luck to both of them!

Sorry I didn't catch up with you this weekend, still feeling like a feverish Sloth. Soon though, I promise.

He will be fine. Honestly, even if school doesn't go smoothly for him, he'll still turn out fine. I skated through school (like your Babygirl) and my Brother sort of snagged here and there (not turning in assignments and discipline issues), but truth be told, he's been much luckier than I as an adult. I call it "luck" but truth be told, he just figured it out later than me and things have fallen into place very nicely for him. Both your kids are going to do very well in life because they have a great support system. The love and confidence you have in them is invaluable.

The love my family gave us helped us more than anything we learned in school.

Just keep having faith in him and *try* to keep him on the path ;-)

If it helps at all I was a lot like your son in school. I never applied myself or turned in assignments. I was smart and did well on tests so I made it through school and then headed to college. When I found things I was interested things turned around and I got good grades and applied myself. I am sure my parents felt a lot like you guys do but just be there and believe in him and things will have a way of working out.

I hope that both the kids have a good first day of school and that you enjoy having the kids back in school.
